Augusta Jones

Launched in the UK in 1999, the wedding dress label “Augusta Jones” set out to do things differently. Quickly carving out a recognizable presence in the Bridal Industry, the designs were based on three very simple requirements: beautiful styling, flexibility of the range to compliment the shapes of all brides, and a unique service with all the trimmings that are affordable to Brides.

Meanwhile, New York-based designer Robert Bullock, with expertise in draping, pattern making, sewing, etc., and a strong reputation in the Bridal Industry for superior fit, fabrics, and styling, was given the opportunity to take the reigns as Creative Director. Loving the idea of making even more dreams possible for upcoming brides, he jumped at the opportunity.

In 2019, with the blessings of Augusta Jones Founder, Charlotte Leung, Robert assumed the role and the natural transition has been an honor for him. With the introduction of new creativity, new fabric, and a new eye, Bullock continues to take the label in a fresh direction without compromising the company’s philosophy and quality. Robert says, “To wear an Augusta Jones gown is to feel the most beautiful version of yourself.”

Robert Bullock
CREATIVE DIRECTOR

At an early age, Robert possessed a strong interest in anything fashion-related. With his drive and passion, he truly is a self-taught designer, with additional skills in draping, pattern making, and sewing. As a teen Robert started designing accessories and women’s ready-to-wear for local specialty boutiques in Atlanta, GA. At age 23, Robert was commissioned to build a factory from the ground up in New Orleans to produce children’s clothing which gained him impeccable knowledge in manufacturing and overseeing production.

In 1990, Robert moved to New York and launched ‘Robert Bullock Hats’. Within the
first few months, not only was he featured on the cover of Woman’s Wear Daily but
was also proclaimed as one of the ‘best new up-and-coming designers. Robert’s
millinery line sold in Barney’s New York, Neiman Marcus stores, and select specialty stores nationwide.

Shortly thereafter, Robert ventured into menswear, launching a line at Neiman Marcus stores. Frustrated by the restrictions forced by ready-to-wear mandates, Robert joined forces with designer Steven Birnbaum in 1993 and started Birnbaum and Bullock, a Couture Collection of Bridal Gowns. Eventually, Robert Bullock Bride was developed to reach a larger audience at a more affordable price.

In 2018, the designer of Augusta Jones was ready to retire and close down the brand. Robert had a love and appreciation for everything the brand represented and wanted to carry on the legacy. Robert acquired the brand and presented the first collection as the designer/creative director in 2019.
